Privacy Policy

  • This policy describes the way that Clerk Walker collects, holds and discloses any personal information obtained from you.
  • Protecting your confidential information is fundamental to our relationship with you and your business.  Any personal information we receive in respect of your matter is subject to a strict duty of confidentiality. We will not disclose your personal information, except in accordance with your instructions.
  • We attempt to collect your personal information directly from you.  Generally, the type of personal information we collect includes your name, mailing address, telephone number, occupation and contact information.
  • We will only collect sensitive information in limited circumstances including:

    a. where you have consented to it; or
    b. the collection is required by law; or
    c. the collection is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal or equitable claim.

  • Generally, Clerk Walker collects personal information to provide you with legal advice. We use and disclose personal information for the primary purpose for which it was collected, however we may also use and disclose personal information for purposes related to or ancillary to the main reasons we collect it, for example invoicing or reminder notices.
  • If you do not provide the information requested, we may not be able to provide you with appropriate legal advice, or fulfil another applicable purpose for the collection of information.
  • We will, on request, provide you with access to your personal information unless there is an exception which applies under the Privacy Act.  For example where we have a legal duty of confidentiality or non-disclosure.  Any request that you make to obtain your personal information will be dealt with in a reasonable time.
  • We protect any personal information that we hold about you from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.  Your personal information may be stored either in hard copy documents or as electronic data.  We maintain physical security over our paper and electronic data stores and premises, for example, locks and security systems. We also maintain computer security systems.
